Health Sciences - Medical Office Administration

The Medical Office Administration Program will provide the student with basic knowledge and skills necessary to work as a Medical Office Administrative Assistant. Subjects include office management skills, medical ethics and law, medical records management, billing and collection procedures, basic insurance, and coding. An externship through local physicians’ offices and medical clinics is available for those that qualify. It offers additional training and possible employment opportunities.

Save time and money! Students transitioning from Medical Office Administration into Medical Assisting will not have to take the Medical Office Procedures courses.

USOE Endorsement: An optional endorsement in Medical Terminology and Medical Office Administration from the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) is available.

Special Requirements:

Individuals must be at least 18 years of age. This program requires a non-refundable $50 background check fee. Medical Terminology and AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification are prerequisites; please see the current class schedule for dates and times.

Medical Office Administration Assistants generally work at the front desk, dealing with patients, filing medical records, and handling insurance forms. They act as a liaison between the patient and the insurance agency. This program prepares students with realistic experiences required to obtain employment in medical offices and clinics.
