The Building Technology Program gives the student hands-on experience in the actual construction of a home. The student will be involved in all phases from planning and estimating to foundation, framing, and finishing work.
All of the classroom and building experiences are conducted by instructors who are experienced in general contracting and teaching. While the primary emphasis of this program is residential construction, certain processes found in commercial building are also covered.
Repair, remodeling, construction, and planning for construction operations are being conducted in almost all communities; therefore, the opportunities for employment are innumerable from semi-skilled helpers to expert craftsmen in all phases of residential and commercial construction. The primary sources of employment are found with building contractors, construction material suppliers, architectural and civil engineering firms, and self-employment.
